Bar Ballad

To all my friends
Those near and far
Why must we spend time
Close to the bar

If I’m to meet you
To drink and chat
Can you just invite me
It’s as simple as that

We’ve all grown so torn
From the ways we’re brought up
That it seems so unthought of
To offer a cup

Id drink beer with you
Who ever you are
Just spend time with me
We’ll speak to the stars

One on one’s not so bad
When you give it a shot
Don’t prejudge too much
You might like it a lot

People seem so uncertain
To spend time alone
Rather be quite consumed
Rather sit on their phone

I can relate to that much
Ill admit that all day
But give us a chance
To bring good times your way

As time grows much faster
we find things to do
keep in mind your friends
The ones that matter to you

You might never find
The times you could spend
Going over your goals
Finding a means to the ends

So tip a beer their way
If you have time to talk
We’d be happy to sit here
Or take a long walk

No time to cherish
Nothing important to do
I can find my way there
Get closer to you

At the end of the day
It is easy to see
All the people we know
Want to be free

Free from concern
And all that brings hate
You can drink one on me
Make the pain disapate

The nights will grow long
Like the lines of this poem
Just remember your past
Remember your home

Invite us along
The friends you think of
When you’re drinking alone
Dont make it too tough

We will be here for you
To drink four or five
Help you forget
Or feel alive

So be open to time
The kind spent with friends
You never know when its time
Time for the end
